The international dance project La Presencia de las Mariposas was realized in April and May 2025 in San José (Costa Rica) as well as in Querétaro and Puebla (Mexico).
It engaged with themes of metamorphosis, memory, and collective movement. Inspired by the stages of transformation, a choreographic map unfolded in which bodies, experiences, and origins entered into dialogue – searching for connection through change. An attempt to recognize ourselves as part of a larger natural whole.
The project grew out of the solo THE PRESENCE OF THE BUTTERFLIES, developed and realized by Belinda Winkelmann between 2021 and 2023 in artistic collaboration with José Raúl Martínez. La Presencia de las Mariposas translated key impulses and aesthetic inquiries from that solo into a collective process with a group of dancers from Latin America – as part of an international collaboration between Costa Rica, Mexico, Argentina, Germany, and Switzerland.
